Termsof Use
These terms apply to the Rainbow Captions for YouTube app for Mac (“Rainbow Captions”, “the app”) and the website rainbowcaptions.com. They are an agreement between you and SIA “Coffee Room”, registration number 40103835510, Marijas iela 1-17, Rīga, Latvia (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app, you accept these terms.
The App Store licence
The app is licensed to you through Apple’s App Store under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add the rules specific to Rainbow Captions. If the two conflict on the licence itself, Apple’s agreement applies.
YouTube
Rainbow Captions uses YouTube API Services. By using Rainbow Captions, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy, and ours in our Privacy Policy.
You may connect only channels you own or are authorised to manage, and you are responsible for following YouTube’s policies for everything you publish.
What Rainbow Captions does
The app lets you style subtitles, translate them and publish them as caption tracks to YouTube videos. Translation and publishing depend on services run by Google, including YouTube’s limits on how many requests an app can make. These services can change, slow down or stop, and styled captions can look slightly different in different YouTube players. We work to keep Rainbow Captions compatible, but we can’t guarantee that every feature will always be available.
Free plan and Rainbow Captions Pro
The free plan includes the editor, the live preview and a limited number of translated languages per Mac, each of which can be published to one video; the current limit is shown in the app. Rainbow Captions Pro unlocks unlimited languages, export of .ytt files, upload to any video, and all presets and effects. We may change what the free plan includes; changes won’t reduce a Pro subscription you have already paid for during its current period.
Please don’t try to get around the free plan limit, for example by tampering with the app or the records it keeps.
Subscriptions
- Rainbow Captions Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription billed monthly, every 6 months or yearly. The price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings. How to cancel a subscription.
- Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Your content
You keep all rights to your subtitles, translations and videos. Your projects stay on your Mac, and we don’t claim any licence to them. You are responsible for having the rights to translate and publish the captions you work with.
Translations are produced automatically and can contain mistakes. Review them before you publish, especially where accuracy matters.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Rainbow Captions to:
- infringe other people’s rights, including copyright and trademarks;
- publish spam, deceptive or unlawful content, or anything that breaks YouTube’s policies;
- access channels or videos you aren’t authorised to manage;
- reverse engineer, resell or interfere with the app, except where the law allows it.
If you break these rules, we may stop providing the online features of the app to you.
Trademarks
Rainbow Captions is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube, Google or MrBeast. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. The name MrBeast is used only to describe a style of captions.
Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, the app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind beyond those set out in Apple’s licence agreement and those that can’t be excluded by law.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data or actions taken against your YouTube channel, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Rainbow Captions Pro in the 12 months before the claim. These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, announce them on this website or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Rainbow Captions after that, the new terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, and disputes go to the courts of Latvia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring a claim there.
